Um...first chapter....
Fifteen-year-old Edele Lynch jimmied the window open to the room that she and her twin sister Keavy called their own. It was two in the morning and she was sure she was going to get it if she came in the front door. As she stepped inside, she heard a faint crying and something that was making a thumping sound. “Oh God,” she thought. Edele rushed to the light and flipped it on. She turned around to find Keavy in the fetal position on the floor, crying and banging her head on the floor. Edele knelt beside her and pulled her into her arms. “Shh Keavy it’s ok. I’m here. Did you have a bad dream?” Edele tried to coax her sister to settle down. Keavy clung to Edele and looked into her eyes in horror. “I know. I’m sorry I wasn’t here. You can yell at me later, ok?,” Edele said as she leaned into kiss her sister’s forehead. Before her lips could make contact, Edele heard a shriek from her younger sister downstairs. Keavy screamed at the same time. Edele shot up from her sitting position. “Keavy hold on. I’ll be right back, ok?” Edele moved towards the door but Keavy caught her leg and wouldn’t let go. “Keavy let go! I have to go see about Naomi!” Edele told her sister firmly. Keavy yelled back at her “No Dele!” Edele pulled her leg free. “I promise I’ll be right back. Stay here.” Edele said as she made her way out the door. She raced downstairs to see Naomi making a phone call in the foyer. “Naomi! What is going on down here? You scared the nuts out of Keavy. Who are you calling at this hour?” Edele said as she took the phone from her sister. Naomi looked up at her with tears streaming down her cheeks. She pointed to the living room. Edele took Naomi by the arm and made her way to the living room. “I swear…If you saw a mouse and screamed I’m gonna…” She stopped mid sentence and let go of Naomi’s arm. “Oh my God…Naomi, call the police,” Edele said as she approached the body. Naomi took off into the hall. Edele pulled the knife out in a panic. “Oh God…” she said as she threw the knife across the room. Edele sank to her knees and tears rose to her eyes. She sat there in a trance for a few seconds. All of a sudden she snapped out of it. She grabbed the handkerchief from the man’s pocket. She wiped her hands of the blood quickly and shoved the cloth in her pocket. Edele ran back upstairs to find Naomi on the floor rocking Keavy and singing her a lullaby. “Naomi, pack a bag for Keavy and yourself,” Edele said as she moved towards her bureau and packed a bag. Naomi stood up and got in Edele’s face. “You killed him didn’t you Edele! You killed him just like you killed Mam and Dad!” Naomi screamed at Edele. Edele became flush in the face and she backhanded Naomi across the face. Naomi held her face, crying. Keavy started banging her head on the floor again. “I did not kill Mam and Dad you worthless little twerp! We don’t know who killed them!” Naomi took off to her room sobbing. Edele sighed and looked over at Keavy who was still banging her head on the floor. “Keavy stop it…” Edele told her in a relatively calm tone. Keavy kept on. Edele knelt beside her. “Keavy we don’t have time for this,” Edele said as she lifted her to the bed. “I’m sorry I yelled at Naomi and I promise I wont hit her again, ok?” Keavy nodded and sat there in silence with her eyes fixed on the floor. Naomi came back in with a bag. “Edele I have the bag packed. What do you want me to do now…” Naomi said, not looking at Edele. “Listen carefully, ok,” Edele said as she scribbled something down on a piece of paper. “You take Keavy to this address and stay there. Do you understand me?” Edele handed Naomi the piece of paper. Naomi looked down at the piece of paper and started to ask Edele where she was going to go, but Edele had already left the room. Naomi took Keavy’s hand and sighed “Come on Keavy, let’s go.”

Chapter Dos
Edele ran through the pouring rain as fast as she could. Tears mixed with rain. This couldn’t happen again…not to her family. And how dare that little twerp accuse her of murdering anyone. Edele shook her head, trying to clear it. She needed to hold it together. Getting angry with Naomi was not going to make what she was about to do any easier.
After running three miles in the rain, Edele finally reached her destination. She knocked on the door and waited.
Shane answered the door. "Oh thank God you're here!" Edele cried exasperatedly. "Something horrible has happened!"
He looked at her a moment. "You know you really should get an umbrella," he said finally.
Edele glared at him. "I didn't have time…" Edele said with an irritated tone. "Now you've gotta listen to me, ok…this is very important."
"I'm not going to buy you an umbrella," Shane said after another moment of silence.
"d**nit Shane! I said listen to me! Someone killed Mr. Gayer! And I touched the knife Shane…what am I gonna do…If they find me, they're going to lock me up." Edele said, nearing tears.
Shane's eyes lit up. "So your prints are like, on the knife huh?"
Edele rolled her eyes. "Well duh Shane…Now I'm gonna take Keavy and Naomi to stay with our friend Lindsay," Edele said.
"Lindsay? My ex?" Shane said, getting happier and happier by the minute.
Edele sighed, nearing her breaking point. "Yes Shane, that Lindsay. You know where she is" Edele replied.
Shane thought for a second. "Do you want to come in for a second and dry off? I got a dry shirt," Shane said.
Edele hesitated, but finally gave in. "I suppose," Edele said as she stepped inside.
Shane closed the door and headed up the stairs. "Be right back. Wait down here, ok."
Shane closed the door to his room and dialed the police. He told them exactly where to find them and to send the people from the mental hospital. Edele sat on the couch, waiting nervously. She spotted some of Shane's "videos" and shook her head. She knew he had been interested in making movies, but she never cared enough to find out what he filmed. Edele chuckled. "Probably some stupid cheesy action figure movie. Typically Shane." She thought.
Suddenly it dawned on her that Shane had been up there a long time. How does it take 10 minutes to get a freaking t-shirt? The doorbell rang. Edele answered it, unsuspecting.
"Oh God no…" Edele said as she turned on her heal and ran in the opposite direction. She gave the little men in the white coats a good chase. Finally one of them caught her.
"d**n you Shane!" Edele screamed as she kneed one of the men in the groin. Automatically the other one shot her with tranquilizer and the team dragged her off into the van waiting outside. Shane watched from the upstairs window with a smirk on his face.
"Perfect," He whispered to himself.

Chapter 3
Edele woke up in an unfamiliar bed. Nothing new. She sat up and looked around the room. d**n her head hurt. She spotted a skinny blonde girl playing tidily-winks on the floor by the other bed. The girl looked up at her.
"Tidily-winks?" she said.
"Oh my effin God…" Edele said as she rolled her eyes. "I'm in the freaking loony bin. d**nit…"
"Candlestick…" the girl replied.
Edele took a deep breath. "You're crazier than a june bug." She got up and walked to the door and pulled a paperclip out of her pocket. She fiddled with the lock on the door for a couple of minutes with no success. Edele screamed and threw the paperclip across the room.
"Window…" the girl mumbled.
"What the frick is wrong with you, you loser! Shut up!" Edele backhanded her across the face. The girl didn’t flinch. Instead, she got up and kicked the lock off the door.
"Hey…thanks" Edele said as she check to see if anyone was coming.
"Genius…" the girl whispered under her breath.
Edele rolled her eyes. "Yea I'm not the one who sits around talking about glowsticks…"
"Candlesticks" the girl replied. "Do not confuse me with Annie…"
"What the hell ever… I don't give a d**n. Later chicken legs" Edele said as she bolted out of the room down the hall.
"Of course I wouldn't go that way…" the girl said, walking in the opposite direction.
Edele turned to face her. "What the heck do you know…you're crazy." The girl shook her head and laughed. "I know this place better than you."
Edele growled under her breath and started to follow the girl. "Where are you going…"
The girl laughed again. "Why should I help you…"
Edele sighed. "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine?"
The girl shook her head. "And I'm supposed to believe that after you hit me…" She smirked. "Hey, watch this…" She said as she kicked the chair across the room and screamed.
"What the hell did you do that for!" Edele yelled at her as she heard rapid footsteps approaching. The girl ducked into another room as soon as the hospital staff rounded the corner.
One of the doctors walked up to Edele. "Lynch…what the hell? Why aren't you in your room?"
"Um…" She said, fidgeting. She turned around after a second and took off running. Of course they caught her and doped her. As Edele was being strapped to the bed, she slipped into a deep and meaningful slumber…

Chapter 4
Edele felt a presence in the bed beside her. She turned over to see who it was. She saw Keavy sitting on the side of the bed, weeping. Edele tapped her shoulder…but she didn't respond. Something was different. Edele got up at walked around where she could see Keavy's face. Edele gasped in realization. Keavy looked like she was about nine or ten years old.
"Keavy! Where is mam and dad!?" Edele said. Keavy shook her head, still crying. Edele shook her in desperation. "Yes you do Keavy! Tell me now!" Edele screamed at her. Keavy cried even harder. "Oh Keavy I'm sorry…I didn't mean to I" Edele was cut off mid sentence as she found herself in the living room of her family's house.
Edele closed her eyes and shook her head. "What the hell is going on…" She thought. As she opened her eyes, to her horror, she saw the gruesome scene of death all over again. Keavy was standing over their parent's bodies, crying her eyes out. A younger Shane walked over to Keavy and grabbed her by the arm and pushed her up against the wall. He had something in his hand…but Edele couldn't figure out what at that distance. Shane got down in Keavy's face and started whispering something to her.
All of a sudden, Edele was looking directly into Shanes face. "Listen you little sh*t…this is all your fault. If anyone finds out about this you're gonna get sent to jail and you'll never get to see Edele again…you don't want that do you?"
The view panned back to Keavy. Edele could tell Keavy was about to fall apart. "NO Shane…" She whispered. Shane continued talking and Edele found herself facing Shane once again.
"Then you have to take this knife to your secret place and hide it, ok? And remember, if you tell anyone about ANYTHING that happened you're not gonna see Edele ever again…" Keavy grabbed the knife and took off running.
Edele gasped. What the hell…that conniving sh*t. How could he kill their parents! Why! And why would he pick on Keavy…making her hide the evidence.
Then Edele found herself at the beginning of the dream again. She stood in front of Keavy and looked into her eyes.
"Keavy…why didn't you tell me about this until now…" Edele said, sadness apparent in her eyes. "Edele…you heard what he said. I didn’t want to get sent away…I can't survive without you…" Keavy siad, still crying. "Oh Keavy…you know I wouldn’t have let anything happen to you. You've got to tell someone about this! Don't let him get away with it! Do you know why he did this?" Keavy bit her lip and then suddenly disappeared. Edele screamed for Keavy to come back, but it was no use.
Edele woke up screaming. Her roommate looked over at her nonchalantly. "I wouldn't do that if I were you…" She said to Edele. Edele looked over at her. Edele started crying. "I have to get out of here…I have to get to Keavy!"
"Oh, the girl in your dreams? What is she like…your girlfriend or something?" The girl said.
"What the hell? No…She's my twin. She's autistic. I have to be with her…I know she's not ok. You gotta get me out of here." Edele said.
"Nah…" The girl said. "WHAT!? Why the hell not!" Edele screamed at her. "Well, you look so cute lying there…all hopeless and what not. And besides, even if you get pissed at me, you're tied down and I'm not." The girl said with a smirk on her face.
Edele looked at her nervously. "You're not gonna…molest me like, are you? The girl laughed. "It sounds that way doesn't it.." "d**n skippy…" Edele replied. The girl looked at her and laughed. "Skippy? Jesus, Lynch, what decade did you grow up in? 1930?" Edele rolled her eyes. "Well you aren't, are you?" Edele said, still nervous. "Get over yourself, Skippy…" "You know, I have a name…" Edele said, a bit miffed. "Yea. Lynch, Edele…room 217…psychoward." the girl replied. Edele laughed. "No, that’s not my name." The girl shrugged. "Then they got your card wrong." "Yea…my name is George Bush. Didn’t you know?" Edele said, laughing again. "So you are nuts…and here I thought I had made a friend." the girl replied. There was a moment of silence. "My name is Sinead, but you can call me Socky." Sinead said.
"You want me to call you a piece of clothing? Why?" Edele said, a bit amused. Sinead rolled her eyes. "No…Socky. You know what, nevermind. Enjoy your evening…George." Sinead said as she turned over on her bed, facing away from Edele.
Edele bagan to panic. "Come on Sinead…please let me out. I have to get out of here. You don’t understand…" Sinead turned over and looked at her with pity. "Understand?" She replied. "Oh? I caught your attention?" Edele said.
Sinead got up and walked over to Edele and stood over her. She looked down at her, shaking her head. "You arrogant little b*tch…you think you're the only one who's been treated unjustly?" Edele blinked her eyes, a little taken aback. "No I don't It's just…Keavy…" Edele whispered, not looking at Sinead. Sinead laughed and walked back over to her bed. "Don't worry kid…she's screwed for sure." Sinead replied.
Edele closed to eyes and cried openly. She knew it was true…what the hell was she going to do… As Sinead lay in bed listening to Edele cry, she felt pang of guilt and the unfamiliar feeling of sympathy. Maybe she should help this girl… She sighed and drifted into a deep sleep of her own, still debating.
